The Adat Reyim Choir was created in the fall of 1983, under the more-than-capable leadership of our musical director, Mitch Bassman, as a way to standardize the melodies that are used in our services. Our 20-member group leads Friday night services twice a month, and provides cantorial soloists on the Fridays when the choir does not participate. We also lead High Holiday services, and are a part of many special events, such as the annual Thanksgiving Eve service that is jointly held by Adat Reyim, Burke Presbyterian Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the Rumi Forum. All of our singing is done a cappella (without musical instruments). Choir rehearsals are held twice a month on Sunday evenings at the synagogue, with weekly rehearsals during the month before the High Holidays.
