Give 10 Volunteer Program
Following the example of local community organizations and our own preschool and religious school protocols, on June 4, 2008 the congregation overwhelmingly approved the Give 10 Program to expand our support base in order to meet the needs of the congregation. Our goal is to provide the necessary support for all our programs and activities to be successful.
How does it work?
Each member unit will be billed a $100 “Give Ten” fee to be paid with your first payment of membership dues. Upon completion of 10 hours of work for the congregation, you will be notified and given the following options:
- Forward the Give 10 fee to 201009-11-10.
- Receive a refund check of $100.
- Donate the $100 to the congregation.
Your 10 hours should be completed by June 30, 2010 to take advantage of these options.
What are the needs of the congregation and how do I participate?
There are many needs both large and small from heading and serving on committees to assisting with tasks in the office or smaller tasks from home. On the reverse of this letter is a description of the committees and programs that need your support. You can indicate the areas in which you are interested, return the form, and you will then be contacted by a member of the Give 10 Committee or the program chair. This form is available in the lobby and on the website. (www.adatreyim.org) Additional opportunities will be posted monthly in the Kol Reyim and the weekly ChaiLights as the need for arises. At any time you may contact Donna Schutz, a board member, or the program leader for more information. Simply make your choice and the rest will be taken care of by our Give 10 Committee.
Do both spouses have to “Give 10” hours?
No, the 10-hour minimum requirement is per family. Teenagers may participate where appropriate and their hours will count.
What about people on financial aid?
Individuals and families on financial aid have always been strongly encouraged to support the congregation through active participation. Those on financial aid have until June 30, 2010 to complete the 10-hour minimum requirement before the $100 fee becomes due.
How do I keep track of my hours?
Tracking sheets will be located in the office and with each committee chair or event leader. When you arrive to work, you will sign-in and out indicating the total amount of time you worked. These forms will go to the Give 10 Committee to register your hours. For hours worked at home or outside the synagogue, call or email the Give 10 Coordinators, Donna Schutz or Sue Israel, with your hours and they will recorded. You will receive a phone call, with our gratitude, when you've completed your hours.
What if I can’t give all ten hours by June 30, 2010?
If you cannot complete 10 hours of work by June 30, 2010, the $100 fee will not be refundable and will go to benefit Adat Reyim.
What else can I do to complete the “Give 10” requirement?
Bring in a new member and your “Give 10” requirement for the year is complete! Bring in a new member before the High Holy Days and you receive a reserved parking space for the High Holy Days!!
I have a child enrolled in the preschool. Will I be billed for both programs?
No, you will only be billed by the preschool.
